This is an introductory course for new or novice shooters. This course is ideal for anyone who has never held a gun before or those who just want a “refresher” on how to safely handle and fire their gun. This class will provide shooters with a firm foundation in the fundamentals of the practical use of a handgun. This course includes classroom and live-fire range time. Students will be introduced to everything from the principles of firearm safety to the basic fundamentals of shooting, and the parts of different pistols (handgun nomenclature), including revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Topics also include safe firearm handling, pistol parts and operation, ammunition types, marksmanship fundamentals, range rules/commands, a variety of shooting positions, and information on continued training and skill development. By the end of this 3-hour class, students should feel more confident and comfortable with how to safely operate their handgun and will be able to apply the fundamentals of marksmanship and safe gun handling.
Students are encouraged to bring their personal firearms to this class, however, if you do not own your own gun, one can be provided for you.
